Don't force profits in chop · LangLang Trading Principle

Chop means neither bulls nor bears have the edge: it can't go up and it can't go down. Forcing profits then is like betting on a fight with no winner yet. The market spends most of its time ranging; however big the swings, a market without certainty isn't a good market.

In LangLang's words

Chop means neither bulls nor bears have the edge; it can't go up and it can't go down
The market isn't only up and down; it spends most of its time ranging
Don't think you have to make money in every kind of market
Even if the swings are big, without certainty it's a garbage market

Inside a high-level box, wait for only two types of opportunities

LangLang defines the BTC structure in early May 2024 as ranging inside a high-level box, and thinks there are very few positions inside the box that truly have logic. He mentions that from the last livestream to this episode, price mainly moved back and forth between the upper and lower horizontal lines: first there was a bounce off the box bottom, and then one must wait for the box consolidation to complete and choose a direction up or down before the next type of clear opportunity appears.

Waiting for a breakout after the post-rebound range consolidation

LangLang pointed out that after the large rebound was completed, it entered consolidation, and gave an upper edge of about 68,700; the lower edge number was garbled by ASR and cannot be reliably restored. Within the range, it may test the bottom again, recover after a pin bar, or take other consolidation paths; what really needs to be waited for is the final breakout. LangLang explicitly said that before the consolidation ends and breaks out, trades within the range "have no logic and are not suitable to do."

From long-short melee to resting after ebb-tide confirmation

LangLang reviews the process of the market shifting from a long-short melee to an ebb tide. The previous night, BTC shorts and ETH/altcoin longs were tugging back and forth; he could not confirm whether BTC would eventually fall and drag the whole market down, or BTC would hold sideways while other coins rose, so he repeatedly switched between shorting BTC and going long ENS. The melee period is not completely untradable, but trades can only be defined as trial-and-error to observe which side wins: lighter positions, closer targets, higher confirmation requirements, and one must not directly treat a local breakout as a main rally.

Determining Short or Long Holding by Degree Expectation

LangLang believes that if one enters in the late stage of oscillation and successfully rides a main upward wave, the main upward wave must certainly be held, and one should hold until the main upward wave ends; the main upward wave can usually be observed through five-wave development. Certain corrections during the main upward wave can be tolerated because there are still subsequent wave expectations; one should not treat normal wave two or wave four fluctuations as reasons to exit immediately. It can be summarized that long holding requires three prerequisites: the entry position belongs to the early or middle stage of the main upward wave, upside space is still sufficient, and the market environment has not vetoed the trend.

Rest During Oscillation, Keep the Main Upward Wave for Yourself

LangLang mentions that the market is in oscillation most of the time, and the main upward time that truly makes money is very little; do not repeatedly trade to pick small profits during oscillation. When there is no clear trend, price may neither fall nor rise; inside a large box is oscillation, where win rate and risk-reward ratio are both low, and one should rest and wait for direction selection.

Inside a large box, reduce at resistance on rebounds

LangLang uses ORDI (written as "Audi" in the notes, likely ORDI) as an example: although it moved up from the middle-to-late part of the box, the larger timeframe was still a box; starting from below was only a rebound inside the box, and a direct breakout was not easy, so he treated the area around 58 and 62 as resistance levels. If one wants to enlarge expectations, the price needs to reach a higher position, digest prior selling pressure, and truly break out of the large box; all rises below should be treated only as rebounds.

Don't rush to short at the top; rest during consolidation

In the recap, LangLang mentioned that when BTC rushed to around 44,000, he had been watching to short because he judged capital was entering a retreat zone; but later he emphasized that even if a top is judged, one should not short, because momentum is still there, there are buyers on the way down, the risk-reward of short positions is not high, and it may hinder subsequent long opportunities. This is the most obvious tension in the entire video. It can be summarized as: exiting longs takes priority; shorting is not a default action.

Rest discipline during low win-rate phases

LangLang explicitly says that in the current large-level correction, those without short positions should no longer participate; if you have no position, don't trade, you can prepare to go home for the New Year, and he expects the correction to take some time, possibly one or two months. After the market enters a low-profitability phase, continuing to increase effort and trading frequency is expected not to increase income but to increase losses; staring at the screen longer cannot create market moves.
